India's Capital Delhi has Highest number of Obese Children

A study was recently consucted by the Diabetes Foundation of India and the National Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation (N-DOC)on school going children, which reveals that in the last three years, the obesity among children has increased from 9.8 percent to 11.7 percent. In private school, the obesity has risen from 11.6 percent to 17 percent.

The survey carried out in seven indian cities cvering government and private school children indicates thatin Delhi, the obesity of private school children has risen to 32.6 percent, which is the highest among the children covered.

The study focus on the health affests of the obesity and estimates that around 70 percent of the children will remain obese till they are adults and further around 20 percent of the children may develop dibetes as early as they reaches thirtees. Researchers argue that the obesity has shot up for the main reason of the poor food habits including junk food, lack of exercise etc.
